Today I went in and filled the new version MA 4.3 which has a link on this post MA Stanzas.  Also, I will not be able to go with this project much longer at the pace we have been for the summer.  I need to start getting ready for my semester abroad in China and will not have much time to devote to the Lenape Migration Project as before.  I will follow up when I know for sure when my last day of coming to the office at Kean will be.  Also, I will not be in tomorrow and I will be coming in later on Wednesday due to an early shift I have at my normal job.

  1. Craig,

Good Luck on the China adventure. I think it is a safe assumption that you will have an interesting experience and lasting memories.

Re: MA 4.3: This is the first time we have tested our newly developed prototype format. I think we need to make one adjustment to the prototype and talk about a few guidelines for using it.

    Prototype revision:
Change the Drottkvaett from center to left justified.
The center justification is too difficult to adjust spacing between syllables. Moving the Drottkvaet to left justified enables easier division into six syllables per line.

Please make the change in the Prototype post also.

    Guidelines.

    1. The instructions in the Prototype are there to tell the preparer of the post what to write where.
If there is nothing to write per instructions, delete the instructions.

    2. Visual vertical alignment of the syllables from the sound record, the Lenape, and Old Norse is an aid to the people, who will vet the decipherment.
The phrase being deciphered needs to be written only once with the syllables separated as required to enable vertical scan.

    3. The brief format (1.23) is recommended. The longer format, Vol. 1, p. 23, is distracting and sometimes causes sentence wrap.

I will send a section of the revised MA 4,3 text by email so the spacing and colors stay intake.

I suggest we revise MA 4.3 to our liking before we go on to the other stanzas.

  2. Good luck with your next adventure to china.
Thanks for your efforts and for allowing me to converse with you all.
I wish I would have been able to contribute more.

A few years ago I stumbled onto a gal named Frances Densmore who a hundred years ago had gotten a grant from the smithsonian. She then lived with the natives and recorded a thousand wax cylenders of their music.
She reported that she had recorded each song three times and she would then have a native artist listen to the song and draw pictures from them.
Many of these songs were history lessons and the drawing resemble the runes you have been studying too.

    also,,

'Curse of the Axe' here is a link to a documentry on the canadian history channel for those who would be interested in this new Huron first Nation site north of Toranto.
